Wild West & Victorian Research Resources
I’m making this page primarily as a resource for myself, but if others find it useful, that is so much the better.
Sanborn Fire Insurance Maps @ Library of Congress
Library of Congress Digitized Newspaper Collection
University of Missouri Prices and Wages by decade
Harrod’s 1895 Catalog
British Goods, military uniforms, firearms, ammunition, sporting goods, Army & Navy Cooperative Catalogue 1883 at the Internet Archive.
Bannerman Catalog of Military Goods 1903 reprint at Internet Archive.
Tourist Guides to Cities in Europe and elsewhere Google books have many Baedeker’s “Country” or “City and its Environs”, Murray’s “A Handbook for Travellers in”, Bradshaw’s Illustrated Handbook to London and its Environs, Crutchley’s New Guide to London.
If you want to see blueprints of old buildings, especially a lot of old churches, Academy Architecture and Architectural Review at the Internet Archive. If you want country houses and manors, Hobbs Architecture and Palliser’s American Architecture are a better bet.
If you have any feedback about this post or our books please feel free to contact us.
